Alex McTavish is an experienced writer, actor and theatre producer. She brings a decade of experience to her craft. She is producer of the annual Anywhere Theatre Festival, a festival dedicated to connecting people with place through theatre, anywhere. Born and raised in Hong Kong to Australian parents, Alex's childhood was spent in Asia and subsequent years in Europe, the USA and the Antipodes. Her diverse experiences broadened her outlook on life and though she calls Australia home, it is in fact Asia that holds her heart. Alex left prestigious London drama school, Rose Bruford College (graduates include Gary Oldman , Lake Bell and Tom Baker ) to amass some impressive early performances; including her debut at the Edinburgh Festival, where the Daily Mail, London took notice, likening her to a young Meryl Streep for her portrayal of four socially, emotionally and regionally diverse American women. Early success was put on hold when Alex became pregnant with her first child. Her acting career subsequently stalled with the birth of her second child two years later but it allowed her to develop her other interests. Alex has a Bachelor of Journalism, Masters in Writing and studied Acting at Rose Bruford College in London. She's also been award ed an Ian Potter Cultural Trust grant, as well as a Career Development grant from Arts Queensland. New credits in 2012 suggest she's back acting again.

Alex had moved 24 times in her life before she had reached the age of 20.Travelled around Europe at 17 before starting an Economics degree, only to graduate with a Journalism degree three years later.At sixteen she went to an all-girls boarding school in Australia before striking out on her own at seventeen.She grew up in Hong Kong until she was age 16.
